Pension scammers
20/11/2014
I have been dealing with a nasty case this month. A new client approached me and it turned out his pension funds were seriously under threat after getting unregulated 'advice' from some overseas based con artists. Luckily we were in time to be able to save the majority of his funds and keep them in the UK.
It was an eye opener for me and it certainly shows how easliy people can be misled with persuasive websites and brochures.
I think that my golden rule for private investors would be to never have any kind of financial dealings with any firm who are not based in the UK or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. As soon as you send any money overseas, your consumer protection becomes much weaker.
I have to go to great lengths to prove that my advice is suitable, and this is to protect my clients and my business. God knows that the regulator is not perfect, but is better that than a free-for-all with salesmen running around scamming people out of their life savings.
Please contact Mulberry Financial if you want to speak to an Independent regulated financial adviser.
