Need advice?
07/09/2009
Yet another depressing survey, this time conducted by the Institute of Financial Planning. They found that although 80% of respondents agreed that there were areas that needed to be addressed in their personal finances (mainly increasing their level of savings or reducing their debts), only 5% of people said that they planned to speak to a financial adviser about it.
25% of the people surveyed thought that their best chance of improving their personal finances was a lottery win. (odds - 14 million to one).
Sadly it is this sort of attitude that prevents people from making real improvements to their lives. I have never been a big fan of the lottery as I see it as a tax on the poor, but also because it gives the illusion of an easy solution to those who are unwilling to face up to the reality of their finances.
The truth is that you never get something for nothing. Unless, of course,
you arrange to speak to me at Mulberry's offices in Macclesfield or in
your home where you get a free introductory meeting where we can discuss
how I can help you.
